    1. TIME Lab

The Machine Learning and Data Mining Laboratory (Towards Intelligence MechanismTIME Lab) at Shandong University was founded in 2002, which focuses on cutting-edge research in the areas of artificial intelligence theories, machine learning, computer vision, pattern recognition & data analytics, and significant applications. Professor Yilong Yin is the director of the TIME Lab.

TIME Lab is made up of 13 mentors now who have earned great achievements. The lab has received a series of national and provincial funds, including the National Natural Science Foundation Key Program of China, National Key Research and Development Program Special Project, Major Innovation Projects of Shandong Province, Major Research Plan of Shandong Province Natural Science Foundation, and several large-scale horizontal projects. Meanwhile, in recent years, TIME Lab has published more than 100 papers in the top-tier journals and refereed conference proceedings, e.g., TPAMI, IANDC, TKDE, TIP, TIFS, TMM, Algorithmica, ICML, NeurIPS, CVPR, IJCAI, and MM.

TIME Lab attaches great importance to student training. We provide a comfortable research environment with first-class hardware facilities and generous academic research rewards. Each year, TIME Lab recruits 2 to 3 postdoctoral fellows, 4 to 5 doctoral students, and nearly 30 master students. More details can be found at: https://time.sdu.edu.cn/

    2. MIMA Lab

MIMA is affiliated with the School of Software, Shandong University, China. It locates at the Software Campus, 1500 Shunhua Road, Jinan, China. The founding director of MIMA is Prof. Xin-Shun Xu. At present, MIMA has 5 teachers, 2 postdoctoral fellows, and 35 students.

The meaning of MIMA is "Machine Intelligence & Media Analysis". Currently, MIMA's main research interests include machine learning, information retrieval, data mining, machine vision, pattern recognition, and some other research areas. Currently, the specific research includes ensemble learning, semi-supervised learning, multi-instance learning, multi-label learning, multi-instance and multi-label learning, hash learning, deep learning, few-shot learning, federated learning, dimensionality reduction and feature selection, text classification and clustering, web classification and clustering, image and video content analysis and understanding, content-based image retrieval, content-based video retrieval, scene text detection and recognition, optical character recognition (OCR), big data analysis, etc.

The laboratory recruits 1-2 postdoctoral fellows, 1-2 doctoral students, and 6-12 master students every year. The members of MIMA have published a number of papers in well-known AI-related journals or conferences including IEEE TIP, IEEE TMM, IEEE TCSVT, IEEE TKDE, AAAI, IJCAI, SIGIR, WWW and MM. More details can be found from the following URL:http://mima.sdu.edu.cn.

Self-motivated students majoring in software, computer science, artificial intelligence, mathematics, and information science are welcome to join MIMA.
