2020-02-14edit:张穆楠

The Joint SDU-NTU Centre for Artificial Intelligence Research (C-FAIR) won an award at the 34th Conference on Innovative Applications of Artificial Intelligence held in New York, the United States from Feb 9 to 11.

The award-winning project, entitled "PIDS: An Intelligent Electric Power Management Platform" was co-developed by C-FAIR, Dareway Software Co and School of Software. Research teams of Prof. Zheng Yongqing, Co-Director of C-FAIR, President of Dareway, and Prof. Shi Yuliang from Dareway, Prof. Miao Chunyan, Head of the Strategy Board of C-FAIR, Fellow of Academy of Engineering of Singapore, and Assistant Professor Yu Han from Nanyang Technological University, Prof. Cui Lizhen, Co-Director of C-FAIR, Dean of School of Software from Shandong University, Prof. Cyril Leung, Fellow of Academy of Science of the Royal Society of Canada from University of British Columbia contributed to this project.

PIDS is an electric power management platform that helps ensure a stable supply of electric power through the use of big data based on the actual power consumption of users. The platform is currently managing one-eighth of all electricity consumption nationwide.

The Joint SDU-NTU Centre for Artificial Intelligence Research (C-FAIR), was launched on July 5, 2019. It is jointly established by Shandong University (SDU, China) and Nanyang Technological University (NTU, Singapore). Synergizing the strong research and education capabilities from both universities, C-FAIR focuses on the research areas of artificial intelligence fundamentals, AI+ health and aging, crowd science and smart government, block chain intelligence, cross-media intelligence, smart service applications, etc.

Since its establishment, the research teams of C-FAIR have undertaken a number of national key research and development projects, and the relevant research results have won a lot of awards, including the "Wu Wen Jun AI Science & Technology Award", which is hailed as "the highest award of China's intelligent science and technology".

Through the "2+X" mode, C-FAIR brings together R&D strengths of relevant disciplines of SDU and NTU and involves other leading universities and top researchers from all over the world. The joint research centre aims to be a world-class platform for basic and translational research, life-long education, talent development, and R&D commercialization.
